GenoWorks™ offers a complete process tracking software solution and data delivery system for laboratories engaged in gene expression profiling experiments using Affymetrix® GeneChip® systems. The system enables the users to automatically track sample handling and project billing and provides facilities for the users to share generated data over the internet.

Some of the features of GenoWorks include:

Affymetrix GeneChip System Integration

GenoWorks generates EXP files for any sample ready for hybridization, and automatically attaches CEL, DAT, and CHP files related to the processed samples in the database. Further, the application automatically reads associated RPT files and flags any abnormal values.

Sample Tracking Management

GenoWorks enables you to track samples throughout the process, from the time they are logged in the system to the time the data is made available to the end users. It automaically generates a unique ID for each sample type, aliquots of the same sample, or pooling of multiple samples.

GenoWorks can:

  • Log in and track sample information
  • Track storage locations and usage levels
  • Track aliquots at each step in the process and the quantities left in each aliquot
  • Store relevant information in the database

The user can log in the system tissues, RNA, DNA and any of the intermediary products. The software tracks quantities, aliquots and sample pooling.

Project Management

The application stores and manages relevant project information including:

  • Project name and descriptionProject Principal Investigator and others associated with project
  • Project Collaborators
  • Special notes associated with the project
  • Billing, including discounts and special fees associated with the project.

Each project is automatically assigned a unique identification number. Clients and collaborators are assigned to a project allowing them to access their project information and check on its status as well as download relevant results.

Process Management

The application automatically generates standardized worksheets for each step of the Affymetrix GeneChip sample processing. GenoWorks also tracks reagent and chip lots.

Data Sharing

GenoWorks enables researchers and their collaborators to download any data file related to their projects including CEL, CHP, RPT, and DAT files as well as covariate information.

Security and User Levels

GenoWorks has built-in different access levels to the database for laboratory personnel, clients and collaborators.
